Reading at Connex

This term, we have placed a strong emphasis on reading for pleasure at Connex. We have enhanced our library resources and refreshed classroom bookshelves to ensure every learner can choose books that genuinely interest them. Dedicated time is built into each day for reading for pleasure, helping to foster enjoyment, engagement, and a lifelong love of reading.

We have also been promoting reading in real-life contexts. Learners have read and followed instructions to build bikes for younger children, as well as recipes and step-by-step guidance to prepare and cook food. These practical experiences help learners see the value of reading beyond the classroom and build confidence in using reading skills in everyday situations.
