Safeguarding

Our Commitment

We are dedicated to keeping our learners safe and providing support as soon as needs emerge. Our approach aligns with Swindon Borough Council’s Early Help framework and the Swindon Safeguarding Partnership. [swindon.gov.uk] If the learner is from Wiltshire we follow the Wiltshire Integrated front door service and the MASH process they use Child protection - Wiltshire Council.

What is Early help

Early help is an approach where services work together to deliver graduated, proportionate support when needs first emerge. This includes use of the Early Help Assessment and coordinated planning through the Team Around the Family (TAF) if additional support is needed. We collaborate with parents, carers, schools, health services and community partners to create coordinated support plans that support out learners to thrive.

Safeguarding at Connex

At Connex to ensure Safeguarding is a priority staff receive regular safeguarding training, they are familiar with policies, procedures and the early help process, Staff are confident in identifying concerns and escalate appropriately. Safeguarding policies are reviewed at least annually. Connex maintain accurate records of safeguarding concerns and actions. Connex works with multi-agency partners to review practice and outcomes.

At Connex staff are trained to spot early signs of:

  • Attendance issues
  • Emotional or behavioural changes
  • Risk-taking or vulnerability
  • SEND needs requiring adjustment or early intervention
  • Family stress, conflict or unmet support needs

We use Swindon’s Right Help at the Right Time thresholds and Early Help documentation to guide decisions and ensure support is proportionate. We follow key principles these are:

  • Child-centred and family-focused practice
  • Coordinated support with a Lead Practitioner
  • Regular review of plans to prevent escalation
  • Collaboration between education, health, social care and community services
